What are dental veneers?
Veneers are very thin porcelain shells bonded to the front surface of your teeth and only require shaping little bit of the outer layer of the teeth. Veneers are no painful, and will not cause pain during or after your visit. If you would like to improve the look of your smile, whether in shape, color, position or size, porcelain veneers may be just what you are looking for.
Do veneers ruin your teeth?
When you consider veneers as an option to improve your smile, we will take the shape, position and color of your teeth into consideration when planning your treatment. Unless you need a drastic change of your tooth color, veneers typically do not require heavy preparation of the teeth. i.e. the outer layer of the tooth reduced less than 1mm. If we need to prepare your teeth, veneers need to be thicker in order to hide underlying dark tooth color or to make your teeth look more aligned. Dr. Lee will discuss options of straightening teeth prior to placing veneers in order to conserve as much tooth structure as possible.
